DIRECT METHOD

From the very first Spanish class, students will only use Spanish. Spanish Tutor DC’s tutors are very adept at simplifying their Spanish and using non-verbal ways to communicate to all levels. Even for total beginners this is easier and much more effective than translating back and forth from English. Spanish Tutor DC’s tutors have taught many students using this method and learners are pleasantly surprised at how much more effective and interesting these classes are. By immersing themselves in the language, students are always enthusiastic from the very first class.

FOUR SKILLS

Learning Spanish is a process that requires the development of four essentials skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. If any of these are neglected, the whole process will be affected. Spanish Tutor DC ensures that, between class time and outside practice, students will progress in all skill areas.

CLASS TIME IS FOR SPEAKING

During class time you will be encouraged to speak, speak and speak. While this may seem daunting to you now, it is actually less stressful and more effective. We will provide homework assignments for practice to reinforce your Spanish with reading, writing and listening.

CLASS SIZES

A round table class is ideal for small and medium size groups. In large groups of 10 or more students the same techniques are still effective in encouraging learners to speak, but, of course, the larger the group, the less time the teacher can interact directly with each participant. As a result, to keep large groups interactive and highly communicative, we emphasize pair-work activities, which the instructor can supervise.

HOW ABOUT GRAMMAR?

The teacher must thoroughly know the grammar and be able to explain it. How about students? Must they know everything about grammar? Not necessarily. Some students naturally prefer to learn grammar from overt explanations , while others enjoy learning implicitly through conversation, reading, writing and listening. “The best method” to learn Spanish must encourage the student to learn Spanish in his or her own way, always considering that from the very beginning we are going to speak, read, write and listen only in Spanish. It is our job to work with the student and discover how they learn best.

ACTIVITIES

We use several complementary activities to improve your Spanish, such as watching movies, discussing articles or making presentations in class. The goal is to make the Spanish class as enjoyable as possible and to appeal to different learning styles. Furthermore, as students improve, we provide ways for them to practice outside of class, including opportunities to converse with native Spanish speakers.

FIRST CLASS GUARANTEE

Take the first class and then decide whether you want to continue with the program. If you decide not to continue with the classes, your initial two-month payment will be refunded and you will not be charged for the first class.

YOUR MONEY BACK

If you should decide, for whatever reason, to leave your Spanish course during the first month of each two-month payment period, you will receive your money back corresponding to the number of remaining classes.*

There are no refunds if you leave the course during the second month of each two-month payment period.

*There are refunds as a group for companies and friends groups. There are no individual refunds for students enrolled in group classes at companies, organizations or in groups of friend classes.
