“I have been taking classes at Spanish Tutor DC since last spring and couldn’t be happier. My class ranges from 3-6 people (depending on the week) which is the perfect size for getting to know one another and keeping a conversation going in Spanish. Some of my classmates are taking the class for work but most of us just want to learn Spanish for our own sakes. I have learned more Spanish in the last 9 months than I learned in 5 years of Spanish classes in junior/ senior high school and plan to continue taking courses here indefinitely. Classes are purchased in groups of 8 – and if you can’t make a class at your designated time, you can just go to another class instead. Since they have classes at many different levels, you can hop in and start taking classes at any time rather than having to wait for a new session to start (which is why I chose Spanish Tutor DC in the first place). It’s all a very easy, hassle-free and fun way to learn Spanish.”

“I took classes with a small group this past winter and was really happy with my experience. I came in knowing very little Spanish and my instructor, Arturo, managed to teach me enough quickly so that I could understand and construct simple sentences. From there the class really took off. It was entirely conversational, with new concepts introduced and incorporated into the conversation. It was fun, and I’m not someone who is inclined to say that about language classes. I didn’t enjoy French in high school, or Latin in college, but my Spanish class with Arturo was genuinely enjoyable. I was surprised by the amount I learned, and if I weren’t about to move away from DC, I would definitely have taken the next-level class.”

“I started as a beginning Spanish student about eight months ago and am now able to converse, read and write in Spanish far beyond where I thought I would be by now. Mr. Montero uses a Spanish-only format from the beginning class, which is the best way to learn any language. He comes to our office for our convenience and teaches several groups at various levels. He has worked hard to constantly reorganize our small groups, as time goes on, so that no one who was progressing slowly because of work commitments felt rushed, and so that anyone who was able to progress more quickly would be able to move forward. He also tailors each lesson to the needs of the small group he is with. This adaptability and creativity has kept a large group of busy and distracted lawyers happily chugging along in the enjoyable study of Spanish at whatever level they can commit to at any moment for several months now. His selection of texts and homework assignments is effective without creating busywork that might put pressure on busy schedules. His professionalism and engaging personality are a winning combination; he is very popular with all of us at our office who have been taking the classes. I am a working mother and the one hour a week I spend in class is my only and most precious “Me” time.”

“Over the past year and a half, I have had the honor of taking Spanish classes with Santiago. Apart from his professionalism and ongoing dedication to helping students achieve their goals, Santiago has a deep knowledge of the Spanish language. His teaching methods work. He challenges students at all levels. Coming from someone who has lived in Spain for several years, completed an intensive master’s in Spanish, and had various Spanish tutors. I know an excellent teacher when I see one. Santiago is a professor of exceptionally high caliber.”
